Teacher MLC Elections — Fighting for Teachers' Voice
In 2007, Nelli Srivardhan Reddy entered electoral politics for the first time by contesting the Teacher MLC election. His motivation was straightforward — teachers deserved a stronger voice in the state legislature, and he believed he could be that voice.
He contested again in 2011, doubling down on the same conviction. Two elections. Two defeats. And yet — not a single moment of giving up. He returned to his organizational work, continued serving the party, and kept engaging with the community.
This chapter in his journey is not about victories — it is about the character that shows up after defeats. Many people contest once, lose, and disappear. He contested twice, lost twice, and kept going. That persistence is what defines a true public servant.
"He did not win the election. But he never lost his commitment."
